School me on Leupold CDS turrets

I don't know anything about the CDS turrets available from Leupold but I'm thinking that one of the new VX6's with CDS might go ok on my .223.

Can anyone give me some details based on experience.

What I want to know is:

Are they essentially an exposed turret like the M1's for example but just a much lower profile?

I assume they are single turn?

Can zero stops be added via the custom shop?

I don't suppose anyone knows how much elevation is available in a single turn on the new 3-18x50?

Are they to easy to rotate?

    Are they a bit shit?

I'm not impressed by the standard VX6 turrets with that horrible, cheap shitty looking turret under the caps so if the custom CDS turrets are anything like that then it's a deal breaker for me.

    Thanks in advance.

They are a BDC turret made to the ballistic specs of your rifle/cartridge combo.

The CDS are typically MOA, 1/4" clicks (the two I've seen). No zero stop, not single turn IIRC.
Again the two I have seen did track well enough to kill stuff but that will be the limit of the testing performed.
They are pretty positive clicks and are the best compromise offered for hunting IMO.

Mine on a vx3 works well not single turn,no zero stop and no micrometer so you have to keep track of which turn your on.
Elevation is all ways spot on windage not so much and it returns to zero every time so short of doing a box test(never bothered) id say it tracks reliably.

Ahhh so it's your fault the windage is often out - but the scope itself tracks perfectly? Just not sure on the whole CDS turrets themselves. Would much prefer if you could have M1 turrets installed - but I read somewhere online that it's not a possiblilty - as yet anyway.

I'm undecided between a VX6 3-18x44 or a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42. However, I'mm in no rush and will wait until there are more reviews out on the VX6 both from internationa dn national sources.

So if you got CDS turrets and did not get them inscribed could you just dial with them using the 1/4click MOA, just like any other tactical scope? Or do they have to be inscribed for a certain load? Im very keen on the 2-12x44 as an all round scope, compared it to the swarovski Z3 and i prefered the Leupold.

Don't they come standard with the 1/4 MOA turrets already installed - and you actually have to send off your ballistic details and the scope back to the Custom Shop to have the additional turret made?

    Correct me if I'm wrong.
