yep , I know what you are saying and agree totally re to many controls etc and no time to use them all . Hence a BDC type reticle rather than dialing , particularly if I end up using different rounds for differing jobs . And the ranges I expect to be using it will vary from point blank to 100+ on little targets so would like the 4-12 or 16 but think side focus/parallax would also help my tired eyes see clearer out longer range with rabbits ...

The main thing with eyes will be ocular adjustment, till you need to use glasses as well, to get the reticle in focus.
