    Scoring

When I was young it was mostly what I thought of, but the other day I saw a L461 for sale in western Victoria, it looked good so I snuffed it up. Picked it up from the local gunshop today and it's exceeded my expectations, barrel looked good, quick clean and down to the range for a few shots. Boresighting looked out a bit but good enough for a trail. The scope it came with is an old busnell, when turning the dials it felt crappy, gave it a go anyway and it's not too slack at all.
M D hopefully gets home early enough to post the pic up.
So there I've scored big time, cost was 1200 which made my day.

    What caliber is it?
Why are the L461s typically more expensive than the L61Rs? Always wondered

From my very limited knowledge the differences were mainly down to action length. L461 being short action, 222, 223 etc, whereas L61R (I have one of these) was the long action, 30-06 for example. But why would the short action tend to fetch higher prices? I don't mean to hijack the thread

They were one of the first small actions available.much lighter n more accurate than the run of the mill rifles in common usage at the time

    Thxks Rumpy.
My curiosity got me by the throat, and I loaded up some 33 gr hammers.
    I think it's a wee bit too much petrol, 3823, 3851, and a lowly 3785.
Come home and tried two of the 22 hornet scoops and looks like might be the go, I'll load three more tomorrow and see how that goes.
As to why the 222 vixens are dearer? No idea but it might be just perception.

The 33 hammers look good, just need to put a decent scope on.
