Thread: shortest length for a 270

If your going to shoot a .270 past 400 you should consider something like the SST or Accubond with a high BC. Factory ammo using these bullets is expensive so you probably want to consider reloading too and using 22" barrel as a minimum.

incorrrect, would not use the accubond, just because of its b.c doesnt mean its a good killer at lower speeds eg longer ranges

Depends how 'long range' your idea of long range is.

If you launch a .270 140 Accubond at 3050fps they're still doing around 2000fps at 600 yards with about 1250 ft-lbs of energy so should open up just fine.

ive launched them at 3000 and pin holed through a red at 400
