No fireforming and it's a Remington Model 7.

The Remington model 7 rifles are starting to show up more and more on second hand gun racks these days.

I was in Hamills Hastings this morning and they have a very tidy 243 there for $1000, which is about the going rate.

Its exceptionally easy to rebarell to 7mm, open up the boltface to .540 (SAUM WSM) flute everything, light firing pin assembly and shroud, carbon stock

and a few other weight saving tricks and you have a nice little pointy machine, nearly as light as a T3

A 270WSM T3 Lite with all the weight saving tricks with a 7mm tube and saum chamber is hell light. No mag mods either, and they are bloody cheap.

A short magnum case with a faster burn rate powder will better the velocity of a long mag case with identical (short) barrel lengths.

So, if you want a short barreled magnum chose to chamber it with a saum/wsm reamer rather than a rem mag/rum.

A 140 or 150g projectile exiting a 16 inch barrel at over 3000fps is extremely useful. Sika hate it
