    Swarovski Z6 illuminated vs non-illuminated

I am about to buy a Z6 2.5-15x44 non-illuminated but now I thinking for the extra $400 it could be worth getting the Z6i illuminated model instead.
Its going on my long range hunting rifle with most shots being around the 300- 600 yard mark.

Who has used the above scopes and what have you found best?

The non-illuminated comes with the Plex reticle which i like as not to thinner cross hairs so good for any close range bush shots.
The illuminated comes with the 4A-I reticle which looks fine also but appears to have thinner cross hairs so am not sure on how it would go in the bush if needing a quick close range shot without having the illuminated dot on??

If anyone is after a as new swarovski X5 3.5-18x50 let me know as I will be selling it once I decide on which Z6 to buy.

My Z3 had the 4A and I found it awesome in the bush.

Yes but the illuminated 4A reticle on the Z6 is over twice as fine as on the Z3's and thats what im worried about for in the bush

O yea I personally like the thicker one even at long range.
So why the change from the Z5 to the Z6 only asking as I have 2 Z5 but never looked through a Z6

Obviously while illuminated it will be fine but I hear your concern. I have the Z6 reticle twice that thickness and it’s superb.

Yeah I dont like to thinner crosshairs either.
Its the X5 i have not the Z5, the X5 is a very nice scope but a bit to big for what i need or want on the rifle at the moment. I am trying to lighten it up a bit to make it a little more enjoyable to carry and for bit of bush hunting if need be. Barrel will be losing couple of inches to once have new scope sorted

I had an iluminated z6, should never have sold it- the tiny bit of extra weight and cost of the ilumanating is well worth it, esp in the bush

Pm me about your x5, would love anouther one

All Z6 are now illuminated - called Z6i gen 2
I presume there is still a few old model Z6 around NZ retail but all Z6 are now Illuminated in Europe

    I have a Z6 1.7-10x42 non illuminated
Negatives in illuminated in my view are
    price
    bulk/weight
    something to go wrong

Positives - great late evening or in heavy bush

Interesting you say that about the Z6's, Earlier in the year when I was looking to get the Z6 the model i wanted disappeared off the swarovski website and a few shops said they have been discontinued also.
But they now seem to be stocking all the models again both in Z6 and Z6i ??
Swarovski website is back showing all models again also.

    Ok
Must have had a rethink on dropping the Z6 line
I was told over 12 months ago from Europe that the Z6 non illum was discontinued
I was a little surprised and thought then it was not a good idea

    Cheers
Your X5 should be worth good coin
Although Swaro prices have reduced near on 20% last 6-8 months since nzammo lost importing rights
How Zeiss and Leica are selling anything now - must be hard yards

Because I have to walk through plenty of bush at times to get to some of my long range spots. I will quite often bush hunt and sit and glass on the same day/trip.

I ended up going with the non-illuminated reticle, as the illuminated reticle was just to fine for my liking.
