Where IS the cost in importing magazines? Is it shipping, or US State Dept fees or ITAR or what?

As long as you stay under us$100 there is only the shipping to worry about. And that's not that bad.
And assuming you have your e cat it's not hard to do the needed paperwork.

Last time I imported pmags I got 7 of them for aprox nz$200 to my door. The $ was a lot better then.

When I'm out of the country so much of the time the instant gratification of just ordering from a NZ website when I just need a couple for my varmint rifle(well only need one really) wins out for small stuff

    Hi,
@Banana said he got P-mags again from Brownells? and they are regarded as the market leader. I bring in my own mags and typically save 30~50% of the NZ wanted cost. With Brownels I use international shipping on all parts so its cheapest and do not exceed $99.99USD and then there is no State Department fees / issues. NZ made mags only make sense as long as retailers keep the prices of new US made mags at obscene levels.

International parcel, its the cheapest and you get a tracking ID anyway typically $11~$15USD on your $100USD box.

    that's odd...

    this is what Brownells said,

"If the order meets the criteria of International First Class Mail, our shipping department will move the order to that method."

8><-------" Priority mail offers tracking and has delivery in two to three weeks. With priority if the package weight is less than four pounds and value less than $100.00 we can ship international first class, INTFC, however it does not have tracking"
