Progressive manufacturer, there's no exposed hammer. A true stalking rifle, the ladder sights probably there just to build confidence rather than for actual use. I like the look of it a lot.

No exposed hammer but manual cocking
So next best thing to an exposed hammer

I think my eyes have a limited number of shots before they tire, the first 3 were about 3" then it opended up (the numbers mean nothing).

It does cock automatically, but can be de-cocked using the thumb hammer.

Its called a Heeren action, and is still in production, supposedly the longest production run of any action. The extraction is fairly weak, but its very strong and compact, the European Mtn hunters favour this action for their Chamois rifles.

About time you got this up, looking forward to see how the Norma 150's go.
It's not all of them, but it's always them.

Heeren action patent date is 1880 and has been in continuous limited production continuously ever since

Still used in Europe for serious custom rifle new builds

Everything works as it should, at some point the rifle has been "done up" by someone with expertise (it came from Nelson, Im wondering if Dave Ward did the work but he doesnt answer his landline) and it looks like thd barrel has been shortened and rust blued.

The base of the bottom tang holds the main spring

Nice feature but a nightmare for the stock makers
