A good quality reamer will cut 100 plus chambers subject to being correctly used. That is why the use of roughing reamers is required to reduce strain and wear on the finisher. Properly used, a reamer should pretty much be a one-off purchase for a gunsmith. Slow speed, plenty of oil and withdraw and clean frequently to avoid build-up on the edges and gouged chambers. I always reamed chambers at 70 rpm to within 10 thou of finish depth, assembled the action body and finished to the correct headspace by hand.
