Anyone tried the hardy/tikka custom conversion, held one today :oh noes:
I like the look of the barrel. Not too worried about the stock. Im thinking of converting a new t3x into a 6.5 creedmoor using one of his carbon barrels. so will be watching this thread with anticipation.
Yep I have had two for a while now one in .223 and one in .260AI had them done about a year a go but with senator stocks.
Both shoot well and are great to carry at about 3.4kg with Z5 and Gen 5 can.

Asking as I found the one I held today to be unbalanced.
I guess it depends on barrel length and scope weight your ballance point always changes even when fitting a can.

Agree completely , the rifle was scopeless, which may not have helped, it felt muzzle heavy without the can, looks good though.
Yea they are not as light as I thought either but if you compare them to a 25mm solid barrel they are way lighter.

I remember when we were men, and it didn't occur to us to care what a rifle weighed, or what fraction of moa it shot, we zeroed at 200yds and killed everything we pointed it at out to 300yds without fuss, with whatever ammunition we happened to get our hands on. And we walked barefoot in the frost and stood in cow pats to warm our feet up too, sigh, oh for back when we were men...........
And sheep were frightened
Saw a few the other day in H&F. Seriously cool piece of kit - but not for me at that price.
Yeah, they look nice and will surely shoot well. But I'll wait for a Sako Finnlight to come up and get it seen to by Stu and save money... But heck. They do look good!
So what do they cost? And weigh? Don't have a H&F handy
A little confusing in the Hunting and Fishing mag but it says $2849 for the "ultimate combo" that includes carbon barrel and stock... I imagine the suppressor, fluting and bolt handle would be extra. And it's says "lightweight"
So $2850 or 5k? Bit of a difference
Yep
the ones I've seen in h and f stores had 5k price tags same as carbon lights sakos
The price in the hunting fishing mag is for the conversion, you have to buy a t3 , which are 1299.99 for clear out at the moment or a t3x, so 1299.99 + 2849, the sako carbonlight feels a lot better.
Yuck. That's too much cash for a pimped tikka.
I love mine but again, I'll wait for a used Finnlight to come up and get it Stugged... Prefer the flush mount double stack mag too.
I understand that the barrel adds to the cost but wowza, that's waaay to strong of a price tag for a Tikka.
I think in the H&F mag the price is if you already have a Tikka and want to upgrade it to a carbon stock and barrel.
Barrel cost is $1550 and stocks any where from $600 to $1000 so around $2500 which is about what I paid.
The only problem is you cannot fit a DPT as the barrel dia is too big so you need to fit a Hardy if you want a suppressor on it.
Listen you guys go on about too much to spend on a tikka then talk about pimping your sako. A. Sakos are overpriced before you even start they are just a glorified tikka. B. It costs less then the price of a sako to pimp your tikka and it will still shoot just as good

No problems with the way they shoot both rifles shoot well under 1"and they are lighter than the standard weight Tikka barrel.
Just by a Tikka Finnlight and job jobed. A nice carbon stock if you feel like it later on.
Sure you could spend another $3k to loose another 200grams, but you would be better off making smart choices about the scope/rings and suppressor you put on.
100-300grams can be saved purely by choosing a light weight scope and rings combo.
I'd be interested to hear about this cold bore disparity he goes on about and how true it is
Lets face it if you're into tikkas this is a top of the line spec out. Will appeal to those who want to have a tricked out tikka. Shit im a gay tricked remmy fag. Same same bucket different
Think I will spend the extra $2.5K on fly in trips.
Wait, I have two tikkas. That's $5k worth of trips!!!
