    Tikka or marlin

I have a brother in law that what's to buy a rifle in 243 and doesn't want to spend a fourtune. He asked for my opion and I suggested a tikka t3. He liked the idea of the synthetic stock and he said he read a report on the marlin x7's and now thinking that. He sAid that tikka cost $820 and marlin $510 which would be a better rifle to buy keeping in mind that he doesnt do a great deal of shooting. But when he does it's foxes pig deer? Cheers

Either will do the job admirably, will come down to personal choice really, he can also look at the Howa and Savage in the lower price bracket, they are all very good rifles for the money. My choice would be either the Howa or the Tikka but again that is just my personal preference.

HH so much of this will (and should) come down to your brother in law's personal preference. It is a bit like buying cars in that there will be a lot of rifles available in his budget range so he should chose based on comfort and fit.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

I had one in 7mm08 it loved 150gr federal blue box and 120gr privi partizan 120gr HP they have a good reputation for very good accuracy. Howas are prolific in stores over there why not convince your brother to consider a howa as well. But at the end of the day as others have said it is what will fit your brothers shoulder the best is what he should go for nothing worse than trying to use a rifle that won't sit right on the shoulder
