Listen to Ryan. Nothing wrong with a 270 and they are still one of the better performers for general open country hunting from zero to 500, despite what all the text book experts will tell you. And they do that in a nice handy light weight package. And I can buy crackers for it in any sports shop over the counter if I need to. And recoil? Never noticed it. I love mine and have shot thousands of animals with it. I have also shot plenty enough with the other calibres in this discussion to know that they work well too but there is more in projectile choice and placement than calibre choice. If you like your 270 rifle and it shoots well then try a slightly more specific load for your 'new' style of shooting, dont change the whole damn rifle. Unless as someone said you really just want to play with a new rifle and are trying to justify that (note - you dont have to justify that ) To be frank though the 7mm mag and 7-08 are both good too but this is really splitting hairs. Here's another option for you and one that seems to be largely forgotten about in this day and age. Its a really cunning little trick that costs you nothing and makes a hunt really successful................here goes.................... GET CLOSER FOR THE SHOT Whatever you decide to do - enjoy!
GSP HUNTER and dannyb like this.
