    Had a Trueflight and now have a Hardy carbon wrap. Both excellent barrels. The difference will be in shooting ability of the user and the chosen ammo, not the barrel;

    Asking for a friend.
Often you will want to get a new suppressor at the same time and also new brass. Working up a new load is a definite cost. If you change cartridge you’ll need new dies and probably projectiles/powder. If its not really broken dont fix it unless you want a project.

Yes customizations of anything become labor of love... in this case, just replace a shot out barrel with a fresh one, same calibre.

New suppressor, new brass, working up new load, new dies, sighting in. All of this is a cost, but it is cost neutral when comparing between buying a new rifle, or just buying a new barrel.

To balance this a bit. I have had one True Flight barrel. I could not complain about the barrel itself, but the process of getting it wasn't exactly seamless.
After deciding on length and contour, I sent the rifle to them to be re-barreled. A couple of weeks later I got a call to ask if I would be happy with a lighter contour as that is what they had made. They were quite insistent that it wouldn't make much difference and that I should be happy with it. I told them I would rather have what I ordered and they, somewhat reluctantly, agreed to do it again. A couple of week passed, and I received an invoice which was a couple of hundred dollars more than I had been quoted. After a few emails, they agreed to honor the quote and I got the rifle back. I guess every company has their bad days.

Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Yes had one of the first 7mm 1:8T chambered in 284.....could not get the velocity as published in many places and they had no answers (or didn't want to answer). Same powder charge in Kreiger and the velocity and pressure was as expected.

Yea mate I posted a bit of a yarn on another thread about a poor shooting (2-4” at 100m) hybrid 7mm rem barrel. Shot a handful of factory loads with the same results. We sent the barrel back and after having it quite a while they returned it with a 3 shot 1” group from a hand load they had produced and said the barrel was fine. He ended up binning the barrel and they sold him a 6.5prc barrel at full price.

To their credit the prc barrel shoots fantastic

Enquired with the online enquiry form on both Trueflite and Hardy websites, several times each and didn't get any response from Trueflite.

Hardy is closer (ish) to me but more expensive in general I think.

Yeah I know "just call them" but my hours of work and other commitments mean I can't easily get in touch during business time.

Not really an excuse but if I am looking to spend what is a lot of $ to me I don't want to have to fuck about with things going wrong.

Likewise with shipping, Gunworks becomes a bit of a pain in the ass.

First world problems I know, the 1-9 factory model 7 still does what it should but I would like to speed up the twist.

10 years ago when I was pricing up house builds for where I was working, it would take a week to 10 days to get supplier prices if I used email yet could usually get the price same day if I phoned.

So emails not getting answered is nothing new.

Yep, I get that but when it's almost impossible to call during business hours what option is left?

Unable to have my phone from about 0530 until 1730 most week days.

your posts from a while back stopped me from buying one from that batch. Probably fine but it was just not something I wanted to deal with from a private seller. So thanks again lol

I have a mate who has 3 trueflite barrels, all of them phenomenal shooters and good service before and after sale from trueflite.
I have a trueflite on one of my rifles now, can't wait to see how it shoots.
I returned the profile on my hardy as it ran out a good 1.5mm in the centre when it arrived. The bore was also visibly off centre.
I also had a bore defect that meant I had to retrim the muzzle threads and shorten it another inch. QC seems average and theirs no way id have one chambered again without borescoping it.

Ive got 2 beauts from Hardy.
But Ive had a feeling of unease buying from them both times.
Years ago they garked a new S&L of mine when they fitted a suppressor. They knew it and apart from Hardy and an employee shooting glances at each other when they handed it to me they never said a thing. Left a bad taste.
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.
