Very nice example. Still in .22 Hornet? Have you shot it? I have one as well. Haven’t used it yet. Mine is a 1949.

Nice old BSA Ryan. Calibre? 7x57 or back to .270W?
Continuing on the .22 Hornet theme. I picked this rifle off the rack of a Gunshop about 10 years ago. Looking at the floor plate I thought it was a .270 or .30-06.
I got a surprise when it was in my hands.

It’s a 48 build model 70. Full size rifle.
A great shooter to boot.

It actually doesn't shoot as good as I'd hoped around 1.5" with federal bluebox, I think it's mainly the trigger it's been set really heavy and the grub screws superglued or locktite or something, was going to put some heat on them and try free them up myself but might let someone a bit less agricultural than I am. I'll reload for it and see if I can get that a bit better but it will only ever really be a 300m rifle with what I'll use it for anyhow. @Rock river arms hunter picked up my 7x57 today so keen to get that up and running also
A nice early Model 70 Winchester. Very nice! I imported a few tidy used BSA Hunter .22 Hornets about 12 years ago from the UK and they sold very quickly. I wish I had kept one!
Oh, @Dicko it's 1956 BSA Viscount, 308. As mentioned have just bought a 7x57 also, this one is an anomaly but more about that once its in my possesion. I know I've bought and sold shit tonnes of rifles of all sorts of flavors but I think I may have found my niche and I like the idea of collecting a few BSA's
@Ryan_Songhurst did you ever get rid of the P14 303 with a stuffed barrel ages ago?
I too have a soft spot for a BSA. Lovely looking example you've got there Ryan.
I had a .308 Monarch once that had a stuffed barrel and I got a gunsmith to put on a take off barrel from a target shooters rifle. Shot about .5-.75 after that. Was really cheap to do, one of the good things bout a .308, plenty of second hand barrels that have lost their edge for target shooting but have thousands of rounds worth of hunting accuracy left..

Brno model 21 in 7x57.
Late version made in 1955 with round bolt handle. Unmessed with apart from recoil pad, and in very nice condition. Shoots very well with 139 grain Hornadys clocked at 2940 fps

Very nice I had one but with the butter knife bolt handle had to use high mounts to clear scope yours looks much better
Very nice rifle , looks in exceptional condition as well , I have one in similar condition and like wise shoots very well
In keeping with a bit of a theme of mine recently.
Went bush stalking goats with a 32" barrelled Pedersoli Sharps 1874 long range rifle. Using black powder loaded 45-70 with 405gr cast projectiles.
I got two at about 10m. Partner got 3 with a 6mm-223.
Was bloody hot and humid in the thick Waitomo bush. I can also confirm the Sharps is as heavy as it looks.

Have a look at the barrel. If it's got a bsa marking it is likely to be a model a or b I think. They bought a lot if them and ended up with the d and e models with new stock, flattened floorplate, reciever ground off for scope bases and holes drilled in the sides for a lyman type peep sight

Winchester Model 70 Featherweight, in .30/06. She is an old campaigner and I have had her for many years. She shoots extremely well, despite looking battered. Half the checkering is worn off the port side due to rubbing on a pack. The Leupold M8 was made the same year - 1981, and still serves very well.
But it always annoyed me that it had an old ugly ventilated recoil pad, and the length of pull was too short. I tried putting it in a different stock, but I actuallly like the old repeating arms featherweight stock, its one of the best rifle stocks ever designed I think, and I couldnt find a replacement. So I thought I would do something about it.
After seeing what they did with shotguns to increase length of pull, I fabricated another butt end, spliced it to the rest of it and fitted a butt plate (because I had some laying around) The walnut almost matches. Anyway I like it well enough that I don't notice it anymore, and it fits me.
I may fit a traditional red/orange recoil pad to it yet. Just because.

Yeah, for years I had a pack with external aluminium frame that did the same. Hallmark I think was.
no bsa markings on it anywhere, british proof marks on the receiver and barrel, matching numbers throughout and ready to be fitted to an original fat boy stock I have to make it as issued
cheers
