@dannyb these ones are real low
About 8mm
Just put a smaller scope on yours
Would look good with a vx3 1.5-5 Attachment 227351
Original Vintage 1"Sako Ring Heights.Lows 3/32" from top of dovetail to bottom of ring 1/2 round scallop.Mediums 5/16".Highs 15/32" You,ll need to convert to decimal currency to get to @akaroa1 metric system
I can manage both measurement systems
These are in the way to Danny to try and are the correct 25.4mm ones
5/16th
Danny will pass them on Al if he can't use them
Im after a low set of .22lr width dovetail by inch scope rings..... cause I just dont need any height on baikal break open and most rings for 22lr are taller than a tall thing.... any ideas???
@Micky Duck 11 or 12mm dovetail ?
I have a lot of rings and not a lot of conventional 22s
bakail rifle..will have a measure
my fancy measuring sticks say 11.97mm at fat top of dovetail... so 12mm

American Steel and Walnut from the pinnacle of their gunmaking prowess. A 1934 Winchester Model 52 in 22LR. Even then these were very expensive (think relative to the high end Anschutz rifles) and were "World famous" beyond the usual manufacturer's hyperbole.
This one is not collector grade, having been shortened to add more modern sights (probably in the 1940s as they kept the Lyman 48 FS, which was superceded by the 1950s). The chopped off bit was nearly unique to these rifles, the foresight ramp was integral to the barrel! Beautiful rust blued barrel, blacked action, American black walnut stock of the highest quality (selected for stability rather than figure) and built to the highest standards. It's designed from "ground up" for accuracy, and it certainly delivers, there's not a modern rifle that'll best them unless you're prepared to spend $5K plus. I've been getting 5 shot groups down into the high 0.3s at 50 yards, with the metallic sights and decent ammo.
Medium height 1" rings arrived today thanks to a forum member
All set up, hopefully get some range time weather permitting later this week :O_O:

It doesn't appear that this stock ever had any chequering on the fore, I must admit I am tempted to get it done. The rest of the stock is far to tidy and original for it to have been sanded down to remove it. The chequering on the pistol grip is very nice.
Itching to shoot it that's for real :D
I'd bet a set of medium Sako mounts that it would have come from the factory with chequering...[emoji16]

Not this particular stock it doesn't look to have been thinned down which would be necessary to remove the factory chequering, I'm fairly confident of that. A quick google image search does turn up a few without chequering on the fore so whilst not common it's not unheard of. Happy to compare and be proven wrong :yaeh am not durnk:
Take the bet @dannyb and then you will have two sets of rings
Some European manufacturers up to that period didnt put checkering on the forend. It started with Mauser in the 1930's who didnt checker the forend of their cheaper models, continued with others like Husqvarna etc.
To have checkering only on the pistol grip is perfectly kosher.
Nice @dannyb , I like the effort put into the photo as well , skin , antler , a few rounds ….showing your artistic flair there ..
Here’s my Mauser Type M , I dont think I have posted this one before , flat bolt handle to compete with the Mannlichers of the era , 20” barrel a very nice handling / pointing rifle , small bore 8 x 60 (.318) so taken a while to gather parts to make up some ammo , picture average sorry.

Lovely rifle @Lucky
@FRST , they are a neat package , Mauser did some nice little details to the Type M , the trigger guard and bolt release are unique and a nice steel butt plate with a trap door .
One in 7 x 57 would be perfect I agree
Have been waiting for a few parts to arrive before finally puting this together and posting a few pics before load development.
Push feed model 70 Winchester Featherweight in 308win. I have wanted one of these for a few years and finally have my very own.
She's wearing a Nikon Monarch 3 2-8x32. Absolutely besotted with it, it's been worth the wait.

Funny how dannb and I picked our rifles up yesterday. Had to get the neighbour to pull my wagon out of a wee bit of wet, then a drive to the killing field to have a quick sight in. Times are tough so I used the 2 shot method at 25 paces, first one went dead on elevation but two inches to the right, 24 clicks left and that went dead on. Coming back to the house i perused the ballistics chart and moved the reticle down 10 click to hopefully b dead on at a 100. The trigger is superb, slight pressure and its on the way. Now look out all you big fat sambar deeries.
A bit of help, the rings have Leopold on the top and on the back one it has a screw on both sides, it also looks as if it sits down in the mount, so is it a take down model?
A couple of recent add on’s to the collection
1st up my rolling block 40-65
I have wanted a 40-65 for a fair while (45-70 necked down to.408)
To add to the collection of long range black powder cartridge rifles
The issue is there’s not that many in nz
So when my good mate called and said he knew of a very nice rifle coming up for sale
I said id buy it before even looking at it (when this guy says it’s nice it’s nice)
Im really into my rolling block rifles so it fitted perfectly into my collection
It’s a full custom rifle
Badger barrel
The action has been set away to the usa to a guy named bob roller who retrofits original actions with double set triggers
This would have been a very expensive undertaking but it truly makes the rifle into the true target rifle which it is
The wood work is definitely custom not sure who made the stocks but the guy who put me onto this rifle done the checkering a couple of years ago
Attachment 227842
2nd is one that I got from the Wellington antique arms auction a couple of weeks ago
It’s a hollis and son’s sporting .577 snider
This is a stunning peice which went pretty cheap at the auction
It had a broken lock which is at the gunsmith being repaired hence it missing in the photo
The bore is a bit rough as most sniders are but will definitely be a shooter
Attachment 227843
Last another one picked up at the auction off the cuff i had no intention of buying this one until the bidding stalled and something told me to put my hand up strange when that happens but somehow those turn out and I’m
So glad I did shes a martini express rifle in 450 no1 black powder express
The outside if the rifle has been badly rusted but what was decried in the auction catalog as an “ok” bore has turned out to be an excellent bore after a clean and polish with autosol the action is very tight and it will be a fantastic shooter
I have a good mate who has made me some brass from 450-500 nitro express brass
Holds about 120gn of black powder so it’s a bit of a hand cannon
Attachment 227844Attachment 227845
isn’t really blued anymore sadly it’s had a very tough life externally
But still worth putting her here as it’s an amazing rifle which im so glad to have got
There's some stunners around, bit of outside rust means it's life hasn't been wasted as a safe queen. Every home should have one of old falling blocks as a mantelpiece.
Yeah very lucky to have several antique single shot rifles they are my baby’s
Don’t let @akaroa1 see you refer to a martini as a falling block though lol
Picked up my final project from Alden Carr this morning, my long awaited ‘Remchester’ .358 Win. Metalwork was done by him, with the stock built and checkered by myself. Douglas premium barrel #3 contour. Weighs in at 7.56lb ready to go. Recoil is stiff but not unmanageable for a flyweight like me. Shoots nicely too

Next level! That wood is amazing. What was your thinking behind using a Remington 700 action?
I wasn’t specifically thinking of a remmy when I approached him about it. It was an action that he’d built up years ago for himself, and it had all the custom work already done. The price was a steal so I jumped at it. I’ve always wanted an heirloom rifle, and I think I’ve hit the mark with this one.
Wow that .358 is superb! What species of wood is that?
I have a flogged-out Rem 700 .308 that I would like to re-barrel in .358 for bush hunting.
