Well I've done it .wrong bolt in rifle

Has anyone else had this experience.
Fired at a deer last night around 250 yards. Couldn't figure out why I couldn't extract the fired shell so called it a night.
Turns out 6.5 prc bolt in a 6.5 creedmoor rifle.
Would this explain the ejection problem.?
3 tikkas and 3 bolts ,was far better when you could store your bolt in rifle.

Keep the effing bolts in the rifles. It's not unlawfully and much safer, you were lucky.

My Tikka bolts are clearly labelled in the safe.
As are my various No1Mk3s and No4s.
    No mistaking a Sako 75 I with a Sako 75 IV bolt.

My rifle bolts are all stored in individual small pencil cases with the rifle and caliber written on them. Provides a bit of protection.
Or leave them in the rifle, it is legal.
Mine are out as it allows more space in the safe and less possibility of damage to other rifles, scopes etc.

When gundoc pops in he will indicate that there is no legal requirement for removing bolts from rifles. If you have to for another reason as some have indicated that's fine but you don't have to if you don't want too

Taking the tension off the firing pin. Never happens. Oh forgot to do that.

Only a problem if you have multiple magazine fed rifles of the same make. It's unlikely to happen if you only own one of a particular make or single shots, just saying☺️

Also note Police can advise to not store bolt with rifle but if I want advice I'll ask for it

I can advise Police to properly check the referees for an Australian in the South Island getting his license and using videogamer mates but they didn't do dick about that
