Also note Police can advise to not store bolt with rifle but if I want advice I'll ask for it

I can advise Police to properly check the referees for an Australian in the South Island getting his license and using videogamer mates but they didn't do dick about that

Taking the tension off the firing pin. Never happens. Oh forgot to do that.

Turns out 6.5 prc bolt in a 6.5 creedmoor rifle.
Would this explain the ejection problem.?
3 tikkas and 3 bolts ,was far better when you could store your bolt in rifle.
Yes I had similar but target shooting fortunately. Turns out my Interarms 7x57mm will shoot with my Zastava 243 bolt but not vice versa. Couldn't make head nor tail of it as I transport rifles bolt out and locked in ammo box...and I have them in individually labeled plastic zip locks...but somehow I switched bags..Bugger me! Gave up at the range when I got to the 243 and couldn't chamber a round. I'd had a bit of a blast with the 7x57mm and while the groups were not sharp they were not that far off, just enough to convince me I needed to adjust the load a little. I stopped in at my fave gunshop on the way home and took the 243 in to the counter and told my fave proprietor of my woes. First thing he asked was, do you have another rifle in the car? Uhhh yes. Bring it in, with the bolt. He swapped the bolts over and hey, no issue. He was kind enough not to fall on the floor clutching...at least while I was there.

I take extra care now but one thing I NEVER do is separate the rifle from the bolt in my lockups - safe or wall. And no, not all bolts have serial numbers on them and of those that do not all match the rifle.

I started keeping them connected after I got past half a doz rifles..and after hearing about a guy dying, his widow moving, then trying to sell his collection of fine British & European hunting/target rifles only to realize the bolts, kept separated, had been "lost" (discarded) in the move and sorting of a lifetime's collection of "junk".

If the law requires I do. Otherwise uncommon sense prevails.

Oh, and yes, when I checked the fired 7x57mm brass the primers were backed out about 2 thou.

Because in the 90s it was an often heard thing from police etc to store firearm, bolt and ammunition seperately.... It became the desired habit.
27 years as a Mountain Safety Council Firearms Instructor and never once did I advise any licence applicant to store the bolt anywhere except in his firearm. Must be a regional thing , just not from my region

A mate of my old man got as far as a chopper ride into the mountains before finding out he had the wrong bolt in his Tikka.
He had a heavy expensive walking stick to help him carry all the shit he got from the other lads for the next 4 days

And to add insult to almost injury I missed the bloody deer.
Can I put the blame on the bolt?

Haha, nice idea, not sure about the permanent marker on the front though. You’ll have to come up with an easy way to change the caliber, or do you just make a new pouch every second week! 🤣🤣

I have shot my T3 308 with my T3x 243 bolt and vice versa with no problems. I have also shot 243win ammo through my 308win. It goes bang but is wildly inaccurate

I really like the coloured cable tie system.
I've used it before in other ways. Dirt cheap too.

I keep bolt in but bolt open to prove not loaded. Often trigger locks are fitted even in the safe, mainly so I know where trigger locks are
