they are about on par with my stainless kimbers or trueflight barrels for corosion levels
tikka are slightly better
when you say rust you mean the slight browning that happens on the lower parts of the low sheen finish right? because as with all stainless a rub with a scotch brite and crc takes all that off
stainless are stainless all the way thru unlike blueing thats just essentially a paint on the outside that once worn is gone forever
the bonus I see with howa and tikka are that you can rebarrel a tikka with the plethora of take offs from all the "custom" builds for very low cost, and howa barreled actions cost less than a rebarrel and they both shoot damn well
if you wanted to play musical chairs with calibers you could do quite easily without loosing a great deal in value
I live about 3km from the ocean down wind of the predomanant wind so everything corrodes here aluminum included, tikka, sako the lot all do just spray them with your favorite airisol oil and move on with life
