Regarding the .280 Remington there are reasons for that. Warren Page being one of them, Remington underloading the .280 and then changing the name to 7mm Remington Express. Also, trying to market a cartridge with similar ballistics to the well established .270 Win several decades later was never going to make it popular.
I have nothing against the .270 or .280.
I tend to not get parochial or emotional about inanimate things made of lead, copper and brass that only have minimal differences.
