    Interesting, the subject of WW2 weapons ending up in strange places came up with a good mate from childhood on his last visit here. He’s ex-mil and has worked for aid agency security for 20 odd years now. He was telling me how in Somalia one of the warlords was encouraged to surrender an arms cache in exchange for a new water supply, so odd warlord turns up with his mates in Toyotas full off... crates of M1 Garands. Many still in grease paper, unused.

    It was clearly understood that the only reason he have them up was because he only had a reliable supply of 7.62x39…
