Interestingly I broke the deer down this morning and I hadn't spined it at all the bullet entered high through the near side shoulder (still about 4-5 " higher than my POA completely destroyed 1 lung exited mid shoulder height but just behind the off side shoulder. I thought I had spine shot it cause it's spine was snapped about 1/3 the way down from the base of the neck but I'm picking that must've been hydrostatic shock ? She only slid about 5m down hill on tussock so it wasn't post mortem from the fall. I was shooting from a slightly elevated position so all in all not too bad. Lost about 2kg of blood shot jelly but got her out whole so I'm chuffed with that.
Off to the range to check the zero on my rifle just to be safe.
