Kiwirail's replacement ships were a gold plated solution.

The world is awash with underutilised ships and RORO's.

They will just have to work within a tighter fiscal envelope, and go and lease.

Money no longer grows on trees. These CEO's on mega salaries should already know that.

Sounds more like they wanted bigger toys, then someone pointed out the new ferry's wouldn't work with our existing docks and so it went all downhill from there.

I wouldn't about the risk in having two mega-ferry's vs 3 or 4 regular ferrys. If one mega ferry breaks down then you have a far bigger problem on your hands.

I also wonder how the people in the sounds felt about much larger vessels steaming through there every day.

If i remember correctly they were also supposed to produce less cowfarts to appease a few more ideologues.

The outright corruption and mismanagement that is done in these kinds of projects is staggering.

You’re on the money, we have plenty of coal for boilers and steamers look great? Don’t need this battery shit, get an old Greek turbo cat, like
The ones that go out the Islands Santorini
