    Personal experience from shooting hundreds of goats with everything from 22lr to 338WM (yes). They wound and run away with everything from 22lr to 338WM. Learn to shoot really well with the 7-08 first at normal ranges maybe 300m MAX and then try longer range with the 300WM. Only take a shot where you know it will be fatal (to the goat). If the wind is blowing take closer shots. Don't want to lecture but I have too agree I hate seeing wounded goats or anything.
