    South Westland dream.

So this trip started with the idea of taking just over a week to find ourselves in Dunedin. We started the usual way we do with a ferry over the cook Strait while following good weather first.
Day 1 we headed up the rangitata for two days trying to find some tahr before the weather would stop us for a few days, unfortunately for the first time no tahr were seen despite hours of glassing and leg work.

While still look for good weather we hit the westcoast, we have only hunted this side once before, living in Wellington makes timing and weather never play together well! But shit something most be wrong as the next 8days only had sunny day.
I had a few msgs from nice falla but after a quick call to the local pilot we soon had a plan to fly out the next day.

We’re away, the chopper flying over the peaks exposing vast areas of land was something to behold. Landing in head of small basin with towering rocks around seemed so surreal.
And we’re here, home for the next few days couldn’t be more remote if we tried, the first evening had us glassing for a while with chamois popping out all over the place. We managed a nice 9.5inch buck on the first day while spotting a goodie below but unsure how to pick a safe way down we left him for the next day. Name: EC18BFE0-8FA4-4CFD-85AD-5CBDF2BAB21F.jpeg

The next day was a ripper! Glassing two groups of chamois we decide to put a few miles and headed over to check new some new country. After bumping a nice buck at 10meters we spotted what I first believed to be a nanny surveying her domains, nice height above the ears we pulled the spotter out and could tell it was a buck, the shot rung out and we had nailed a nice 10inch buck! That next few days wespent our time spotting more animals but not wanting to take any extra animals it was awesome just watching them move and play but or time had come and back to city life was a must.

In Dunedin it was awesome watching my sisters graduation and was a great ending to one awesome week In the South Island Name: C8C58AD1-A546-43FD-8164-A0BB775D23D7.jpeg
