    Spearing Kings and Snaring Crays

Heap of diving footage from my Christmas holiday with family and friends. Kingfish and Crays being the centre of attention with some awesome dives in there!. If that’s your thing then have a nosey and hopefully enjoy.

You did well with the noose. I never had much luck with them, tend to use a hook to stop them retreating and go for the snatch.

Loved the kids with masks on getting amoungst it , nothing better than little one comfortable in the water loving the catching …what a huge experience for them…pretty bloody neat.

Nice Dylan. There will be a few from the Dark Side on this forum who will watch your spearfishing development with interest. Big XO snapper is the standard. ... there's one behind the next ledge just ahead, gently finning in the current...

Didn’t want to ask where. I thought it looked a bit like the East Cape.

Nice cray country. I'm very envious of the visibility you guys get.
Thought it was funny at the start when your boy pushes you in then points a spear gun at your head. As if to say "get me some fish".

Thanks guys, this was up the coromandel peninsula. Crayfish are actually tough to find around where we are. Luckily we just know a few spots that we only visit once a year to have a good dive like the one in the video. The day in the nice deep blue water with some mates was cuvier island. That was a wicked day and the other boys nailed some beauty kingies too that I didn’t have on video.

Go for the snatch - haven't heard it described quite like that before but I guess it fits... Tried the 6 year old on paua just this weekend for the first time, loved it which surprised me. Awesome though!
