    Nope.

    It’s the introduction of the EGR heat to modern diesels that is the problem. These were introduced to control NOx emissions. Older diesels didn’t have them, hence no heat and hence no soot.

    Yes there’s some soot in the EGR gas, but the combination with the crankcase gases and oil is what causes the modern phenomenon of totally blocked intake systems.

    I should do a video of what comes out of my drain line from the oil catch can...

    The vehicle i referenced above was an old school mechanical injected diesel, EGR valves clogging up happens on older diesels too.

    Which ever you like shuting the egr valve stops both the exhaust heat and soot entering the intake.
