    New wheels

Hi, well not exactly new, I`m looking to stop training my ford focus to be a 4x4 and getting one, my short list is a Outlander with 2.4 petrol engine . So what sort of a run have anyone had with there`s Mitsubishi's, thinking of 2007-10 , the one you can dial in 2 wheel drive for the wife to go shopping or when I go off road with my caravan 4x4 to get to that sweet spot. I know we are spoil for choice these days and most are pretty good but in the end it`s what`s in my wallet!. Cheers,

Mate has an Outlander but a diesel. Tows the race car amazingly well. Very economical, actually it surprised me a lot - towed race car from CHCH to Cromwell, girls drove it round Qtown for a day and then we drove it back to CHCH on 1 tank. And we didn't drive it like a nanna either. It's highly specced compared to other brands similar sized vehicles. I was impressed with it overall. Mrs really liked it too.

Yeah they're pretty good. Keep the oil fresh in the petrol ones. They still suffer from noisey lifters like most mitsi motors, but that's not a worry really.

Pro-ma (spelling?) oil additive is really really good for sorting this out.

or...... if you can find one, buy a M42 Duster. This fine automobile has plenty of room for the whole family and the safety rating is impressive! I personally guarantee you will walk away from any head on collision. And speaking of safety..... your new 'Duster' is factory equipped with not one, but TWO road rage sticks (which, by the way just happen to be in the most versatile of all calibers ever made!)

    Finance available.

You had a VR4 last to 320k? Very impressive, most of them seemed to explode or fall apart a long way before that.

Yup, sold it at that point and was still a mint runner.
It did not have an easy life either but well looked after maintenance wise.

Well at the end I got the Outlander 07, 2.4 petrol with 2x/4x4 and lockup at the push of a knob, five seater and only done 100.00ks. It`s in good nick, has been under sealed, no rust, but I`m going to rust proof it with" lanotec" my homebrewed stuff and all I need is a two bar fitted so I can go bush with my caravan.

Had a 2011 Great Wall X240 from new. Sold it with 54 000 km this year. Traded for a 2006 Outlander with 63 000km. I lost $16 000 just like that, but will never regret it. The Mitsi is a far better beast, engine feels twice as responsive and the 4x4 system is flawless. It goes without fuss where as the Wall gave the impression of a Ferguson from the 70's. Tappets are noisy at stand still, but synthetic oil quietens them somewhat. At $12 500 I'am well pleased with my purchase. Handles better, brakes are twice as good and comfort is to a modern standard. Enjoy the Mitsi Homebrew.
