    Lack of fluid or air? Is the banging the shunting at the coupling metal to metal when brakes apply. Any sign of metal to metal marks at the shoulder? Looks OK in photo.
    Maybe pads worn (experts need to comment) and a lot of fwd movement of the trailer relative to the towball b4 brakes apply?
