Thats odd mate, i just have normal eneloops, and they are great for low self discharge. I always carry a couple of spare charged batteries in the pack and they hold their charge for a looong time.

Yep, does seem odd! Eneloop Pro's are supposed to have capacity retention of 85% after a year. If they are going flat before that, take them back.
