Only shelter I've had fail and only time I've whipped out the emergency bivy.

To answer the question the naturehike opalus 2 which is 1.8kgs $270 spacious as hell and pretty bloody weather proof. I've used the tent it's a clone of, the exped CeTus UL 2 for ages and its great but they discontinued it recently. Has a massive front vestibule great for wet weather entry's.
If I didn't have a Cuben tent I'd buy another. I'm considering buying one to replace my trusty Macpac Minaret as my backup tent
well I always pitch tent in sheltered position...and would put low end into wind if had not a lot of shelter to be had....Ive seen many photos of the things loaded with snow...99% sure the Duleys were using them in the early days .
Im more than happy with mine, but each to thier own. Ive been inside colman family tent at lake opuha and watched 15mm thick fibreglass poles shatter, the replacement tent had many more tie down points and didnt fail in similar conditions.... as said earlier sometimes the simple dome tent with basic X poles are able to stand up to extremes as they have give in them, flatten down and pop back up,bit unnearving laying in bed with roof bopping you on the bum...but they will handle one hell of a lot of wind.
