    Fenix 7 maps

I would like to put better Topo maps on my Fenix 7 pro solar. What have others used? I tried to find topo 50 but didn't have any luck.

This is getting a bit old but i think i got mine here from memory. NZ Open Source Topographic Map Series for Garmin (Download) - Page 40 - NZ Open GPS Project

I think you can also do it from the linz data but i havent spent much time looking at that yet

I only have a Fenis 6x Pro and the maps are just too small and hard to read for my eyes so every little while I tend to take my cell phone out and power it up and check location etc on that.

Following this with interest. I also just picked up a Fenix pro solar. Are aftermarket / open source maps much better than the default apps ?

Yes they are. The preloaded maps aren't as good of quality as the likes of topo 50. Not all are compatible with downloads on a watch. You can buy through Garmin connect store.

I’ve loaded NZ 1:50k maps onto a Garmin Epix which I believe is similar to the Fenix and they work pretty well.

The Garmin maps seemed to be Imperial ie inch to mile with 100 foot contours while the topo maps are 20m contours.

As you’ll see loading non garmin maps on required a little hacking with Android File Transfer and a deep breath to do a factory reset when some features didnt work.

Heres my report from 3 years ago: https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....-review-97687/
