Harris Swivel Bipod swivelling too freely

I picked up a Harris swivel bipod yesterday and the swivel is really loose, which you can obviously adjust, but there seems to be no turning this nut! Am I being a girl and should I just crank the fucker with vise grips or is there some ninja technique that I don't know? Name: IMG_4005.JPG

You're turning the round knurled one, not the hex nut, right?

Yep, trying to. It's so tight it feels like it's meant to stay that tight.

They've probably put 'loctite' on it. Used locking vice grips, even some leather to minimize damage, and it might pay to reloctite it urself once sorted.

I had the same problem, in the end it was sorted by my "friend" I was teaching to hunt stealing it as thanks for helping him get his first fallow buck. I now have no issues with freely swivelling bipods!

Buy a podlock. Place called T Nuts in the states sells them for about $US8. You can get them in NZ for $40-60.

Sweet I will try with tools then! I'm hoping to sort it out a bit differently BH haha.

Looked at the pod loc things, they seem popular so they must be good. Just wanna see how I go without it to start with, I've spent way too much on gear lately as is.

Is the hex nut a lock nut or is it fixed? if its not fixed undo it, then turn the knurled knob in to tighten.

I just had a look at a video on YouTube of how to fit one and my socket piece doesn't even fit. I wonder if Reloaders have one onsite that might do the job.

    t-nuts.com

I ordered 3 Pod-locks From T-nuts.com for me and some mates, cost us $18 NZD inc postage each
and only took 10 days to arrive
the good thing about these is once tightened you can re-position them hard against the stock and out of the way.
these are the only way to reliably tighten the swivel pod-locs as they tend to go loose after firing a couple shots, and I dont carry vise grips in the bush

easy to set up an account with them and their international postage is fair.
