LED HEAD LIGHT LAMP REPLACEMENT FOR NISSAN NAVARA 2003

My right hand headlight has packed up and I've promised the nice Officer who politely pointed it out to me that I would get it fixed pronto.
So who has researched replacing traditional filament lamps with LED?
Is it a straight swap or more complicated than that?
If you have done it, is it worthwhile?
Also if you have done it, what's the Brand, model #, cost and supplier?
    Thanks Team!

nope but do know the wiring in the terrano isnt hugely heavy and putting in an extra fuse isnt bad idea if changing stuff.... older brother ran higher spec bulbs for a huge improvement 100/110s think they were called.....the std ones are slightly better than two glowworms holding hands,we replaced the old filiment type spotlights with small repco leds..huge improvement.

chances are you wont get a warrant.
the led's are arranged in a string and the beam pattern will be incorect

in the standard housing, the placement of th filament which is at the focal point will be different to led replacements.
first i suggest measuring the dc voltage at the bulb itself, if its lower than battery voltage fit a relay system. even if its only a volt different thats a lot of light loss

Yep, it's amazing how much loss you can get over wiring. Swapping out to 'whiter' or 'blue' poncy non-LED headlight bulbs might show a considerable difference over the factory type if there's a big drop and that's sorted out. Usually no issue at wof time with the traditional style bulbs too.

replacing cabin lights with LED is well worth it, I did it in the repco carpark one day when I had some time to kill in town.

if you want a different effect from the headlights without getting into murky WOF territory, fitting a LED light bar or some spot lights is another option to consider.

I'd recommend going to the same place for your WOF's then.
I did the LED replacement in my older Prado, and got failed due to a non-standard beam pattern.

Some WoF places are a bit weird on what they consider for an effective beam pattern assessment - you can't realistically do a beam pattern check by looking into the height adjuster tool 30cm from the bulb or by shining the headlights in daylight. The only 100% accurate way of doing a beam pattern check for a calibrated reflector design is by parking the vehicle the correct distance off a light coloured but non reflective uninterrupted wall at night and measuring the light fall. Basically all the inspector is doing when they fail a non standard bulb in daylight is noting that the bulb appears different to a factory bulb and failing it to cover their arse... Slightly different for an LED bulb, as they are not rated for retrofit or I think even new build OEM compliance in NZ yet so they are a WoF fail item.

The number of times I'd gone to the wof man (same guy) in the same work ute at six month intervals with the exact same loading and exact same everything and had the same guy adjust the lights up, then next wof adjust the lights back down, then adjust them back up started to piss me off. So next time around I set the internal adjuster 1 below full height and took it in, sure enough he adjusted them up. I challenged him on it and he went crap, you know I never thought to check that!!! Facepalm.

I used to run a blueish bulb on one side and whiteish one on the other in our aviner station wagon, was great I could spot Mrs coming to pick me up from work and be locked up when she arrived...passed WOF many times, same specs just different brand bulbs...then one day "cant do that, they are different ,have to be the same"...
it worked well as got best of both light types
