Thanks fella’s a lot of good feedback, on my request for Scarpa advise. It got me thinking…
What’s your favourite lightweight boot? Not for a 10 day Fiordland trip, 2 - 4 day fast and light mission?
Quite keen on the idea of a lightweight boot.

I definitely love my crispi summits would buy another pair in a heart beat . Have out lasted my expectations by far. Heaps of ankle support for such a light boot . I'm a bit bias as it's my first and only pair of lightweight boots.

Have worn on a 10 day trip and were mint.
Best all round boot I've owned
I've been so impressed with Salewas I now have two pairs. Much lighter than the full leather Lowas and Meindls I also have and also, to my amazement, the most waterproof boots I've ever worn.
The biggest downside I found was the soles tend to quickly wear if spending much time walking on rocks and scree. I have only done so once on a Molesworth trip last year and the sole wear post trip was noticeable. Quite a few hours carrying a pack probably contributed also. For future South Island trips I will revert to my Lowas. But in North Island bush / soil terrain sole wear is not an issue.
The smaller downside with Salewa soles is they are a bit slippery in moist/ wet conditions on wet / slimy tree roots, rocks so you learn to handle that accordingly but otherwise the soles give pretty good traction.
If you are looking at Salewas check all the internal stitching. Took me a long time to figure out why my last pair would eat my heal. I've owned 2 pair and they were waterproof in wet tossocks half a day. We're a good summer boot. Others have had better experiences with them.
Forgot to mention that Salewa laces tied as an ordinary bow tend to undo quite easily. They might be better replaced with flat laces which is what I'm going to try. Double tying the standard bow improved things a bit but eventually the laces till undid anyway. I dunno but maybe it's the way I walk that does it. There's probably some fancy tie method that sorts it if you hunt around on Youtube. Need to do that.
Salewa my pick currently. Had a few pairs of other brand light boots but these are a new favorite. I don't wear a heavy semi rigid sole boot these days, prefer hill slippers.

Using Crispi Valdres at present, best boots I've owned.
Quite fond of the Inov8 roclite 2. You know how you get that awesome feeling at the end of the day when you take your boots off? I don't seem to get that awesome feeling with them because they stay comfy all day. Probably not first choice for heavy packs on big hills but light and fast for a day or two get out there and smack over a animal and head home again kind of thing they're great. Comfy enough to wear to town and I even wear them to ride my mountain bike but provide just enough support to keep you facing the right way up for a day or two hunting

Salewa Mtn Trainers, did 10 days in the Wap ballot this year with 30kg on my back and couldn’t have gone better, was hesitant going away from a stiff leather boot in that country but I’m not going back. I also have Crispi Valdrez and to me the Salewas are far better.
I'm in Salewa alp trainer goretex boots now and these are my new favourite. Liteweight and I find them grippy. But that will probably come with shorter sole life. I'd rather my feet were happy though. No problem with heavy loads.

I'm using Crispi Dakotas, they have been great so far and way lighter than my old Andrew Antealos - Makes a huge difference having lighter footwear.
