    Lightweight hunting shoes

I’ve been a meindl man for the last 14 years. I’ve had a few pairs. Most of my hunting in the last few years has been in some pretty wet muddy terrain. I’m
Sick of wet heavy boots. I brought a pair of Lowa Locarno GTX Lo shoes today. Has anyone else got a pair or anything similar. I’m told they will still provide ample support for carrying heavy loads. We will see.

Yeah I will write a report. I’m hauling a Tatonka 90l these days and have carried 35 kilos of boned out deer in it over 4-5 hours quite a few times with the old boots. They will be tested this weekend all going well.

I’ve been using Salomon 4D Quest GTX for a few years now, really good for stalking and quick drying. I get roughly 200 days of hunting out of them and lots of river crossings and climbing on all 4s, the only time I use my Lowa Tibet’s is tahr hunting now. I’m due to get my third pair of them soon.

These are what I have been stalking with in the last few months.
Very light and super quiet, semi waterproof and very warm and confortable.
Not the most confortable if you hunt / walk long distances with a heavy pack( 20kg +).
But perfect for all your day hunts...etc.
    I highly recommend them

I have some Scarpa approach shoes that I use for summer tramping (wearing them into the Kaimais today). They are great but off track you really need some gaiters (the running ones would be good) to keep shit out of your shoes.

I spend some of of time hunting in similar shoes during the summer. They actually strengthen your ankles - just be a little bit careful while you get used to them.

Worst feature is that a lot of crap gets into them so I wear ankle puttees with them. (Later, I see Shearer said this too).
