    Yep its nothing to do with torch failure - they are manufactured to exact specs. The 2S was made 2-3 years ago for batts 18mm wide and 65-67 long - hence the name 18650 for those batteries. The issue is the batteries keep changing in size - I just calipered three newer sets of mine and they were 67+mm, 68+mm, and the latest panasonic 3400s are 69.4mm long and 18.5mm wide.

    So the older torches get contact issues when we force an extra 5 to 8mm of battery into the tube. Common issue for many torch makers. Keep experimenting with easing head or tailcap and it will be fine.
