Teaching compass skills to a group one day..gave them all the same bearing to set on their compasses, and told them to walk in that direction. Eight of the group of nine walked off confidently, the ninth (an attractive buxom young woman) looked perplexed. She complained that her compass needle pointed in a different direction when she set the bearing I had given them. I swapped her compass with mine, in case her one was faulty (it happens). Got the same result. I asked her if she was wearing anything metallic around her navel level, where she was holding the compass. She thought about it, then exclaimed: "Oh, I've got an underwire bra on! Should I take it off?" Mmmmmm......
Another trap: beware of cheap compasses, they always point towards Beijing.

Whenever I ever get down to your area on the way to the Canals again, to stop off and sort reloading a .270 which I really have to do. I will run you thru doing a compass resection to find/prove your position. Easier with a mils prismatic compass but should be able to bluff you enough to understand ..... MGA and GMS
For old people it was always .... My Grandmas arse and Grandma sucks. But unfortunately, we won't be down that way as we have seen our first whitebait moving up the river. ONLY 5 days to go
