sounds like you could do with a sat phone in the boat......presume they are still around,plurry expensive to use last time I looked..but at least they work.

Without any disrespect intended, Im going out on a limb here and guessing you haven’t used a Satellite phone too often.
Very hit and miss in my experience, more so in the Southern Hemisphere.
