Thread: Rifle Slings

Im wondering if anybody has any information on or is willing to share any knowledge on a durable liteweight rifle sling . It will be going on a sako 7mm mag weighing aprox 4kg all up .
It will be used for extended periods in the back country .
I dont have one of those flash packs with a rifle holder so it usually sits on my shoulder . What are some of you hunters using ?

I just use a bushbuck neoprene sling, with an extra strap at the butt end so it stays on my back freeing up both hands light, cheap and easy

Same, actually pretty comfortable

All I use is a 25?mm wide heavy duty webbing with a ladderlock buckle sewn into it. I can slide the ladderlock out to open the sling right up for wearing it, or close it right down for carrying so it doesn't get caught up on everything. Same webbing that the cactus outdoor belts are made from. Only problem is, it doesn't have any padding and would move around a bit on your shoulder as there isn't any non slip properties to it. Bloody light and compact though.

Interested in this thread as I DIY'ed a Z-Aim like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFg7z3CGN1c after seeing comments about them in another thread on here. Works awesome without backpack, can do anything and it never slips off shoulder.
But with big backpack it slips off shoulder so is not much better than standard sling. Frustrating!

I’ve got the same but with a strip of rubbery material stitched on for the shoulder

I have a Z aim and find it great without a pack, but as stated its a real pain with a decent sized pack,
Best scabbed pack i have seen is a Vorn 20ltr pack, really quick release of the rifle when needed,

its a wonder niggilo hasn't popped up

I'm using a DIY Z-Aim with a rubber sling and it stays on shoulder, even with a big pack. I thought the rubber sling was going to be the solution on it's own, it wasn't. Sorted with the "Z-Aim". Can you tell I really don't like rifle slipping off my shoulder?

I've changed to using flush cups rather than swivel studs for attaching slings. The flush cups are in the left side of the stock (for a right handed rifle) so when slung the flat side of the rifle is against your back which I find really helps.

I bought in 3 sets of threaded non rotating flush cups and 2 sets of push button sling attachment thingies from Grovtec to convert my rifles.

I need to change to non rotating as well. Nobody had any when I needed them.
