Thread: Squeaking pack

Hey folks.

I've got a Tatonka bison 75+10.

I absolutely love it.

However it squeaks when I wear it.

Not super quietly I might add.

I have heard others have it but I'd like to know how to remedy it as I have a big mission planned next week and as such would like to take only the one pack with me.

Any info much appreciated

Remove the squeezy rubber duck toy from the bottom of the pack.... failing that try a little dry spray on silicone lube if you have some.

Do you know what is squeaking? I have usually found it is nylon webbing rubbing on a plastic buckle, and any sort of lube should fix it but might need to be reapplied regularly.

It's in the lower half of the pack.

Around the lower quarter

Are you sure it's not your butt cheeks ? a squirt of CRC 556 down the crack should fix it

Naaaa mate.

When it roars down there it roars.

If the noise doesn't deafening you the smell will asphyxiate you

Talc powder works on shoes, cover the foot rot smell as well

I've been asking around and apparently a lot of Southerners 'Squeak when they walk' as in 'tight arse' Scottish genetics, so i am picking its not the pack and 556 is the way to go

I reckon all Tatonka squeak at some time. Silicone lube is your friend. I just sorted my boots and the pack started on the next trip !
I don’t think it disturbs anything except the wearer.

My Macpac Ascent squeaks too, its where the harness attaches to the pack i think, quite annoying alright.

The old way to fix squeaks in packs was to wrap a strip of woolly sheepskin, strip of old blanket, sock etc. something wool, around the offending area
