Left a loaded mag in truck and went hunting with just a single round, didn't see anything that day

Often forget the hill stick, only because I'm not in the habit of taking one. Must admit that they're handy in the winter when things get a bit greasy

My headlamp on saturday night just been. Fun coming down a shitty creek after dark a couple of hours from the car with a load on using the cellphone which was rapidly running out of juice.

Have left my cutlery behind on a few trips and have just had to make do cooking with a knife and eating with my hands.

Once went to go for a spearfish, mate picked me up & we were about 3/4 of the way to our spot when I realised I’d left my mask at home. Had to drive 30mins back home to get it & then go back out again. Usually all my gear is kept in a tub together ready to grab and go, but the week before this I’d been diving in Vanuatu and missed my mask in front pocket of suitcase when unpacking.

Also once went away on a three day spearfishing trip and my gun rubber snapped 5mins into the first day. Luckily a mate that arrived the next morning had a spare for me. Since then I always carry a replacement in my gear bag.

i have forgotten a tent and sleeping bag/air mat as the guy i was hunting with said he would bring camping gear. I failed to clarify if it was his or for both of us. spooning in a one man tent is not comfortable and funnily enough we never went for another hunt.

Since then i too have a checklist

Loaded up the magazine (243 woodsmaster) at home before an armed walk just out of home as a teenager.
Thought I'd put it in the pouch on the belt but must've got distracted.
5 minutes drive and about a 10 minute walk and went to load up the rifle and yeah nah.
Somewhere along the line id got distracted and hadnt put the mag in. I had a couple of loose rounds in there hut it was a single shot for the quick hunt.
It was a bit wet and if I'd gone home I wouldnt have come back

Mate of mine left one of his 3 kids at a Tūrangi petrol station

The other 2 asked where the 3rd was about 1/4 way to Taupo

He had to turn around, go back, kid was crying with petrol station manager……….
