Be realistic here, all the Telcos are shit to deal with when you have a problem to rectify.

Well yes, no argument from me there - although in a record setting occurrence I had an excellent run of service from OneNZ the last three times I've needed to go in to them. If you know what you need and what resolution looks like for you - things tend to go better I find.
The complete opposite from here. Absolute abortion of a farce. No one appears to talk to anyone else. No one appears to update your 'file' for want of a better term. They can't see what the last poor English speaker promised you they would do on any file. It was only when we dealt them a massive zero on all fronts to their 'survey' that someone who spoke English as a first language rang and apologised for the mess and sorted stuff. Note that this would have totalled a couple of hours of our time on hold and multiple multiple reruns getting words and phrases understood by the ESOL customer services rep at the other end of the phone. Absolute purgatory.
I had my first opportunity to try my new phone this morning messaging via satellite.
Mid Wairoa Hut for those who know it, so in a pretty steep sided valley but no overhanging canopy at the hut.
Worked flawlessly both inbound and outbound messaging, both text and iMessage. The phone had acquired signal as soon as I livened the phone up to write the messages. Less than 5 second lag to see the iMessage show as delivered.
Fingers crossed this feature remains part standard plans and doesn’t become an extra feature to pay for.
So far so good.
Ha what fun with OneNZ... I have had that experience before too, but my last three were actually much better from them.
Yes, I am the same although the other option that might be good is Starlink taking the comms via cellphone package over and we can have one damn provider to do it all comm-wise as we can't get landline worth a damn here, as well as no internet or broadband on anything other than satellite...
We are in the same boat and have a VOIP home line via our Starlink. It’s just gone up in price a little bit recently which is a bummer but they’re still competitive and it works perfectly.
