My advice would be to buy yourself a NEW (as in not used) British army DPM Goretex jacket off eBay and don't look back.
They are just a Goretex shell so you can layer up however you like and they weigh and cost bugger all compared to most other gear.
I've worked and hunted in one that has lasted years and have just bought another after ripping the sleeve on my first.

Just sold one of these I bought new in Auckland. It seemed a bit hopeless after wearing it for about 3 times. was good the first time. But yes they are very cheap. My mate has an Event jacket he bought for $200, which he swears by and a 20yr old Gortex jacket that's still going strong (although no idea what that cost, looks expensive). At least with the Gortex jackets you can just continually return it to the shop until you get a good one, as they garauntee their product. All seems like a bit of luck whether you get a good one or not.
