Used a Timbersaws vertical splitter made in Levin, pretty good bit of kit with a lot of grunt for its size.

The Raptor models from Steel & Wood in Mayfield are cracker horizontal splitters, a very quick machine with a lot of capacity in a compact package and the builder is a top bloke.

The ultimate has been the Mahoe Whopper Chopper, holy heck can they move some wood.
If you've got the wood to feed them they can be quite profitable but damn they've gone up in price and they're a massive beast
The Raptor splitters are excellent, 8 cubes an hour for one man. And safe, very safe. Tim at Steel and Wood is the guy to talk to, based in Mayfeild, so not too far for you to go check them out.
