yes im well aware of it as someone on here unearthed that fact via admission from a very embarrased doc official here in CHCH .the rationale apparently is steel shot is forbidden where shooting from fixed wing/helo is involved
.The carcasse clean up on ellesmere that time was initially a little slap happy but once media got involved oh boy did things get into hi gear to remove any incriminating mess.

They didn't just do it there, but in several back country tarns as well, leaving a stinking polluted mess.
