Shooting a Stirling folding single barrel gun will recoil most unpleasantly with 3" shells and possibly put you off shooting forever! Check the barrel markings for 76mm which is the European mark for 3" shells. I would recommend a new pump action like the Ranger 870 copies, sturdy and inexpensive.

and today istarted my 2025 season in our honey hole on the rakaia.zero ducks in our vicinity any seen miles away and not interested 5.30pm hello some frisky parries zoom in on a fly past just outta range.
suddenly two buggers land on opposite side of our pond -baikal primed ready to go and my trigger finger has a hell of an itch!mate had moved out of maimai and was 15-20m down so Ihad to work out
how to tell him to take the left hand bird id take the right
HOW TO GET THE BASTARDS AIRBORNE??????????????????????????
    Tried whistling- ignored
by best Pavarotti aria (with common cold overture) Ignored????????????????

this has gone on too long and Im getting ready to strip naked an wave ma willy(apologies to Sir Billy Connolly

WHOA-a mallard does a skyhawk pass right over us-I let my first shot go as he zooms out and banks over the pool .mate fires two in quick succession ..this bugger is blotting my barrel s out second shot is away and he drops like a strippers g string! pair of us hunt through broom gorse grass and shit -cant find him where i thought he dropped.
Dopey ,yeah dopey spots something out corner of eye -on the shore tucked up neat as a pin one very dead juvenile mallard drake with not a mark on him.
soooo-Ive busted me 2025 duck shooting virginity and our honey hole has come up trumps yet again-likewise the wee russian princess.

this sort of bird behaviour aint new to me .when i first started shooting lake ellesmere GSPF introduced me to F&G boggy creek site with its balloted mai mais etc,and it proved bountiful
However I found what i called the witching hour5.45-6.00pm right on dark in the buggers would zoom often almost suicidally and I nailed quite few as did my mentors .
my first ever bird shot here was a plump feral goose idling along in a trio till I hit him.okIaimed at arse end arnold -he was middle bird but he fall outta the sky! .PM a single steel pellet through the heart killed him instantly chest cavity full of blood!

am i happy -is a dog with two dicks or a lab in a butchers shop happy -you bertcha!!!!!!!!!!!

NB-NO DRONES WERE FIRED UPON IN THE MAKING OF THIS EPISODE! IMTOLD THEYRE PISS POOR EATING ANYHOW!
