Smart idea, always use one when scallop diving, tells the boats where you are and your not using your BCD as an aid. My old dive supervisor told me of a story that he had to be a expert witness to. A husband and wife team who had used their BCD's to get to the surface. Once on the surface the wife's catch bag caught on her BCD and down she went, husband was out of air and couldn't help her. Tragic! On my boat you have to have 500psi (35Bar) left when you have finished your dive because of this and as well it might be handy to recover a stuck anchor.
