This summer had little success with 100-180gm jigs but last year they were great particularly in 40-60m
This year 7-9” soft baits on 1-1.5 oz jig heads in 20-30m saw best line fishing i ever have had in pelorus and i put it down to bigger baits being easier to see. Yet u getting them with those wee things!
Hi @AMac. I am usually fishing those weights in about 20m but it depends on wind/current. I always try to use the lightest weight I can and still get to the bottom. 10-14lb braid with 15-20lb leader works for me. You get a good scrap from a decent snapper on that gear.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Cheers Shearer i use similar line weights although sometimes a heavier flurocarb leader when the cuda are about f*#kn things have cost me a fortune over the years. Use the wee clips too find they help with lure action and swapping lures quickly.
