Had a good day on the Firth yesterday. Managed to get in next to a harvesting mussel Barge. Managed 13 good snapper even with a couple of noobs. You could see the fish tails out of the water. Epic fishing
    Well done!
I have never even had a bite fishing around a harvesting mussel barge so gave that up years ago

Quick fishy this morning with Dad and cousin.
Out of Delaware on the high at 830 gentlemen hours.
Out 30m dropped longline burley up and cousin Craig was soon into a good 12ish pound fish.

We got 6 or so more...dad landed a over 20p that we released and Craig lost another very good fish.
A nice trev and a few Gurnard we had all the fish we needed and bailed out in case the longline had snapper.
We needed have worried it only had spiky dogs on it yet we caught bugger all spiky on rods.
Great couple of hours....must be the last hurrah of snapper season in Tasman bay.Name: 20250426_104407.jpg

    Well done Cam.

We had a crack out of Stevens bay this morning. Went out to the mussel farm (20m) Water was brackinsh after the rain.

Took sons mate and his dad out with us.

Bugger all but a chilly wind, got a few small kahawai. Longline saved us with 1 (8pdish snapper) Good to send them home with a feed And one gurnard for us to have a taste

Spotted my mate so went over for a yarn. He had whole family on board bundled up in thier puffers.

Reckons they started biting just after we left. Cheeky bugger texted me this

The trick is to use Salted mussels and hold the line in your fingers to feel them trying to suck the mussel off the hook. at least thats what the guys showed me on the harvesters.
I used to fish off them in the sounds whilst the workers worked. It was great no stress fishing as you have zero control over where and how long you could fish, and no messy boat to clean up.

Crap weather = available to fish
Good weather = can't fish because of other priorities.

And there has been alot of crap weather here.

The solution is obvious. Either harden up and fish the crap weather or elevate fishing to a higher priority when the weather is good. Always here for helpful advice. You are welcome!
