Not far with the two wharehouse setups I have tried...maybe 25 meters? I can flick a kahawai lure further with my softbait rod.

Good quality light weight braid is a huge help over thick shitty nylon.

I have never measured the distance, but educated guess is aprox 100 to 120 yards if I get it right.
Good quality rings are a must, and I also spray mine with ptfe for extra smoothness.
One of the most common mistakes that I see is not loading the reel up enough. You need to fill the line as close to the edge of the spool as you can without it spilling off of its own accord.

Free tip, if shark fishing with a whole skippy head on with braid watch your casting finger. Can nearly fly off

Kontiki is a fuck load to carry, and costs a bomb. You can knock one of these up for $50, and if it's not your thing you can still shoot onions through wheelie bins that have misbehaved

Just to second veitnamcams comment - my casts got a whole heap better when I put on some decent braid on my softbait rod and a kahawai lure. Goes for miles now.

I also found switching to this technique a lot more effective and efficient. I can usually get roughly 3 casts per minute down at the mouth. Might be a bit impractical on the bigger rods but works a treat on the softbait and trout rods. https://youtu.be/TxOI3xdN-qY

Used to have 100m of braid and cast that out Everytime, with half a pilchard. The knot would piss me off, so in the end just filled the spool with braid.
If you haven't caught a fish and are using braid make sure your winding in without weight on the line. Pull wind, pull wind. The braid being thin cuts into the spool and tightens the line, so doesn't flow out on the next cast so well. Well it's what I find.
A spool of big diameter seems to work better too. The old Mitchell reel is my favourite for this reason, and has just lasted longer.
Maybe watch some you tube on technique.
mine is to stretch the rod right back and fairly low, arms extended back, making sure the sinker is dragging on the ground (sinker on the bottom of the trace) to load the line, then cast.
If I'm lazy or on rocks, swing the sinker back and forth, cast when it's back.

Word of warning if using braid. Any little crack or nick in the line guides will cut through braid like hot knife through butter, usually when it is under strain while fighting a good fish.
Check the linings in your rings carefully

Dry casting as in measuring your cast on land I've done 158 metres. With a bait on you loose about 10 metres. It's not all about casting distance though, bait type and presentation have a lot to play, as well as how often you change your bait. Change of light with an incoming tide is always good. Look for holes at low tide and fish them at high. Look for trenches and guts and fish the entrance of them.
This was standing in red bands and casting, just an average cast when I caught this.
